House Tournament Rules

LAKEMAN TOURNAMENT RULES (HOUSE LEAGUE)

1. All IHSA rules will be followed with any exceptions listed below.
2. Two twenty-minute halves with running clock except for the last minute of the first half and the last two minutes of the 2nd half. If there is a score differential of 15 points or more during the last two minutes of the 2^nd half, the clock will not stop.
3. Overtime - If a game is tied at the end of the second half, an overtime period of 2 minutes in length will be played – stop clock.  If the game is tied after two overtime periods, a sudden death overtime period will follow with the first team to take a two point lead declared the winner.  The two points can come in the form of a basket or free throws.
4. Man-to-man defense only, except during full court press situations.
5. Full court press – For grade 5, losing team may press during the last 2 minutes of the 2nd half (and overtime) only, with either a zone or man-to-man press. Both teams may press (last 2 minutes of the second half or any overtime) if point differential is 4 points or less. Team must return to man-to-man defense when the ball is in the front court.  For grade 6:  Full court press is allowed by both teams. Winning team must end their full court press when leading by 10 points or more.  Man to man must be played in the front court at all times.
6. Each team receives three (3) timeouts per game of one (1) minute in length.
7. Free throw line distance:  12’ for 5^th graders and 15’ for 6^th graders.
8. Ball size:  28.5 for 5^th graders and regulation size for 6^th graders.
9. Lane violation:  5 seconds for 5^th graders and 3 seconds for 6^th graders.
10. Free substitutions – no minimum playing time.
11. Only players listed on a team’s roster can participate in the tournament.
12. A player can only be listed on one team roster per tournament division.  No player can change teams or be on more than one team within a tournament division. Please contact the Tournament Directors if there are any questions concerning this rule.
13. A player on an AHYBA team roster must play for his AHYBA team during the tournament.  An AHYBA player may not play for another team in the same division as his AHYBA team during the tournament.  An AHYBA team may not borrow players from other AHYBA teams.  Please contact the Tournament Directors if there are any questions concerning this rule.
14. No team may field a player from a higher grade level under any circumstances.  In other words, for the 5th grade tournament, no player can be in the 6th grade or higher. For the 6th grade tournament, no player can be in the 7th grade or higher.
15. Each non-AHYBA team will be required to provide a team roster with birthdates at tournament registration. Please support the spirit of these rules to ensure that tournament participants compete against players in their own age group.
16. If two technical fouls are called, coach/player must wait in the foyer.  Further action may be taken at the discretion of the tournament director.
17. All coaching must be from the bench.  No coaching is allowed from the spectators seating area.
18. Decisions of tournament officials are final.
19. Both teams will have scorekeepers at the scorer’s. The bottom team in the bracket will maintain the “official” score book for the game. The top team in bracket will provide a person to operate the score board for the game.  Teams must provide their own scorebooks.
